No. 1 1966 England 4:2 West Germany World Cup Final

Hardly original, but you don't need to be English to recognise this as one of the great World Cup finals. Two great rivals, a controversial goal that remains questioned to this day, extra-time, and a blistering last-minute strike to finish things off.

No. 2 1986 France 1:1 Brazil World Cup Quarter-Final

Brazil's team of 1986 wasn't quite the vintage of 1982, whilst the French team, Platini, Giresse, Tigana et al were reaching their pomp, it all made for a classic World Cup encounter.

No. 3 1997 Middlesbrough 3:3 Chesterfield FA Cup Semi-Final

Third-tier Chesterfield are robbed of a FA Cup final place against big-spending Middlesborough as the ref fails to award them a goal which would have taken them 3:0 up. Boro' fight back but the Spireites have the last laugh with a late equaliser in extra-time.

No. 4 2005 Liverpool 3:3 AC Milan Champions League Final

They dubbed it the Miracle of Istanbul, as Liverpool fought back from 3:0 down to level against AC Milan, before going on to triumph in the penalty shootout.
