English Football Writers Footballer of the Year
Commonly referred to in England as the Footballer of the Year award, this, along with the Players' Player of the Year award, is the most prestigious annual award in English football.
The winner is selected by the members of the Football Writers' Association, which is made up of English football journalists, and is awarded just before the end of each English football season, usually at the end of April or the start of May.
