The 2010's saw the Goalhanger's kids go football-stats crazy.
And the blame lay firmly at the feet of the EA Sports FIFA games.
Yes, the popularity of this particular video game meant that it suddenly became a regular
occurrence for veteran followers of continental football to be left baffled by their
six year old child's new-found expertise on the stats surrounding a whole host of
previously unheard of footballers.
Couple this with the never-ending stream of videos celebrating the outrageous
skills and goals of footballers across the globe, all doing the rounds on the
likes of Twitter, Instagram and YouTube and there seemed to be more
skillful players than you could keep track of.

Full of sublime little touches, defence splitting passes, twists and turns, he played on the right side but was often given licence to roam inside as a playmaker, usually in and around Mbappe. Unfortunately he had to miss Euro 2016, which is a shame as he'd have provided much needed creativity to a dull Portugal side, even if they did end up winning the thing. |
